Pricing and Packaging

Get Clients ยท 17 min

By the end of this lesson you will:
  • Compare project, retainer, hourly and performance-style pricing models
  • Calculate a price floor from your time and costs
  • Build three clear packages with defined scope and terms

You can now audit a site and write a proposal. The last piece before delivery is pricing. This lesson gives you a method to price your SEO services with confidence, package them clearly, and set terms that protect your time. It will not tell you what you will earn, because no honest course can.

Earnings disclaimer: Pricing ranges for SEO services vary widely by location, niche, scope, experience and market conditions. Nothing in this lesson is a promise of income. Use it as a framework for your own decisions.

The common pricing models

Model How it works Good for Watch out for
Project Fixed price for a defined deliverable Audits, site fixes, setup work, content sprints Scope creep; define deliverables tightly
Retainer Recurring monthly fee for ongoing work Ongoing SEO, content, reporting, maintenance Clients expecting unlimited work; define monthly scope
Hourly Billed per hour Consulting, training, ad hoc tasks Punishes efficiency; hard to scale
Performance-based Tied to leads or agreed metrics Lead gen and rank-and-rent models Tracking disputes and factors outside your control

Many operators start with a project (like the audit and quick-wins package from Lesson 11) and then offer a retainer for ongoing work. If you chose local lead gen in Lesson 2, the local lead gen guide explains rental and per-lead arrangements in more depth.
